Contact with viewers and the promotion of art and artists associated with the university are, according to Igor Mikoda, Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture, and Dawid Szafrański, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture, the most important reasons why the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań began cooperation with Kołobrzeg.
As a reminder, Marta Ostapiec, director of the Kołobrzeg Institute of Culture and Promotion, signed a letter of intent with the country's largest art school. The agreement envisages the development of joint design and artistic endeavors, including the organization of exhibitions, workshops, screenings, lectures, and competitions.
The collaboration will also include art workshops and internships for students in Kołobrzeg. One such workshop has just begun and will run until April 26, 2026. Open events for residents are also planned. On April 22 (Wednesday) at 8:00 PM, the Adebar Cultural Laboratory will host a screening of the documentary "Buntownicy Koło Klipsa" (Rebels of Koło Klipsa). On April 23 (Thursday) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, open linocut workshops are planned. On April 24 (Friday) at 7:00 PM, a concert by the band METANOYA will begin. On Saturday, the Nurt Gallery at Mazowiecka 46 invites you to a post-workshop exhibition. Admission is free.
Further results of this collaboration will soon be visible throughout the city—not just in galleries. The university has become involved in organizing one of Kołobrzeg's cultural events. We'll be announcing the details soon. Kołobrzeg residents are also associated with the Poznań university, including Wojtek Tężycki, a valued educator and artist who runs a ceramics studio at the Faculty of Sculpture, and about whom we'll tell you more soon.
