Kołobrzeg reveals its quieter, more authentic side in spring, which for many visitors proves to be the most valuable experience on the Baltic Sea. It's precisely at this time of year that the wide beaches create a natural space for tranquility and regeneration, and the city's rhythm encourages relaxation and mindful exploration of its charms. The sound of waves, the scent of the sea, and the iodine-rich air promote well-being and help regain energy after the winter months. At several dozen meters wide, the beach is among the widest on the Polish coast, ensuring a sense of comfort year-round. A distinctive feature of the landscape is the 220-meter pier, from which one can admire the open sea and coastline, as well as the longest promenade in Poland, spanning over 3 kilometers. A spring stay allows for exploration of these places at a leisurely pace, conducive to reflection and closeness to nature.
Kołobrzeg has long been known as Poland's largest health resort, and its natural resources—saline waters and therapeutic mud—form the foundation of the local health offerings. The history of the spa dates back to the early 19th century, when the healing properties of local raw materials were first utilized. Today, modern hotel and spa facilities offer extensive access to treatments, wellness areas, and spas, enabling comprehensive regeneration. In spring, when conditions favor outdoor activities, this offer is naturally complemented by walks, Nordic walking, cycling, and running along the seashore and through coastal green spaces such as the Eastern Ecopark.
However, the city offers much more than just relaxation and health. Kołobrzeg is one of the oldest towns in Pomerania, with a history dating back to the 8th century, when a salt-mining settlement operated here. In the 10th century, the city was incorporated into the Polish state by Bolesław the Brave, and its history over the centuries reflects the changing fortunes of the entire region. After World War II, the city returned to Poland, preserving its centuries-old heritage. Traces of this history are visible in its monuments: from the Gothic basilica, the neo-Gothic town hall, and elements of the former fortifications. A special symbol remains the lighthouse, built in 1945 on the foundations of a former fort. It stands 26 meters high, and its light is visible from a distance of 16 nautical miles, or approximately 30 kilometers. The observation deck offers a panoramic view of the port, beach, and much of the city.
Kołobrzeg's seaside port, a commercial, fishing, and yacht port, is an integral part of its charm and authenticity. Here, you can observe daily port life, buy fresh fish, or enjoy cruises. The yacht port houses the modern Solna Marina, attracting sailors from Poland and abroad. At the same time, Kołobrzeg remains a green city: over 80 hectares of parks, historic plane tree avenues, and unique spots like Bindaż Grabowy create a space conducive to strolling and relaxation.
Culture is playing an increasingly important role in the city's development. Kołobrzeg is consistently building its position as a center for artistic events, concerts, and social initiatives, attracting residents and tourists year-round. It boasts art galleries, a Regional Cultural Center, and numerous outdoor event spaces. Kołobrzeg's Old Town, with its cafes and restaurants, as well as live concerts, allows visitors to experience the city's unique atmosphere and the friendliness of its residents. This direction is confirmed by Kołobrzeg's designation as Polish Capital of Culture in 2028—a distinction that heralds further development and investment in cultural infrastructure.
Spring is the moment when all these elements harmoniously complement each other. Kołobrzeg offers its full potential: from wide beaches and the longest promenade, through rich history and monuments, to a thriving cultural scene. It's a perfect time to discover the city in its balanced, peaceful incarnation, while simultaneously taking advantage of its diverse offerings. Its seaside character, spa tradition, and growing cultural importance make Kołobrzeg an attractive destination year-round.
