Published in Kołobrzeg, the book Żertwy by Antonina Tosiek was awarded the prestigious Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw last Saturday. The same volume also has a chance to win the Wisława Szymborska Award, for which Ola Lewadowska was also nominated for her debut We Are the First Darkness This Summer.
These are just some of the awards granted in recent weeks to publications bearing the logo of the city of Kołobrzeg. The Wrocław Silesius Poetry Award for lifetime achievement went this year to Kacper Bartczak, while a nomination for the Gdynia Literary Award went to Krzysztof Siwczyk for the volume Na przecięciu arterii.
Nominations were also received by: Aleksandra Górecka – for the Wiesław Kazaniecki Award for her debut Rule of Three and Antonina Tosiek again – for the Stanisław Barańczak Award-Scholarship. This is just the beginning of the season, and subsequent books published in Kołobrzeg have a real chance of similar distinctions.
Since the organisation of the first TransPort Literacki festival in Kołobrzeg in 2022, books published in our city, authors and the Literary Office itself have already won 40 national awards and nominations, promoting Kołobrzeg as the Polish Capital of Culture 2028 in the best possible way.
